The Junior Soccer Team were victorious in the Cork Cup today against Carrigaline Community School.
We made a strong start through a well worked sequence of play finished off cooly by Emma Davis. However, our opposition was up to test and equalised shortly after. We continued to push for the lead but we were unlucky to take the chances we created. Finally, through a series of excellent passes, Layla Hogan O’ Connell found the back of the net which gave us the deserved lead. However, before half time, the opposition took their opportunity to draw level after an excellent counter attack.
The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first. We dominated possession and made plenty of chances. It was a competitive game until Mia Quille showed great skill to break through on goal and her shot had too much power for the goalkeeper. Mia got another goal through great individual ability to weave through the defenders to finish the ball calmly in the net.
The final score was 4-2 to Regina Mundi College and we look forward to the next
