The Minor team were knocked out of the Munster Cup today by Presentation Ursulines Thurles.
In the end, the team were quite unlucky to finish the game with a scoreline of 5-1 to the opposing team. Our opponents proved a strong and organised side which featured talented players.
Ursulines got an early goal which put us on the back foot. We pressed and had some promising counter attacks. The breakthrough came from Mia Quille taking on multiples defenders and holding the ball up brilliantly. She proceeded to turn back and laid off the ball to Blaithin Nevin who took a touch and lobbed it high in the sky over the keeper into the top right hand corner from well outside the box.
The game continued to be back and forth until the last twenty minutes of the game. The opposition managed to squeeze past a goal to give them a lead and they pushed on to get another few goals.
On a wet and windy day, the girls still put on a great display of determination.
