The Junior Soccer Team won against Colaiste Mhuire Buttevant today to proceed to the next round of the Cork Cup. The final scoreline on the day was 2-1 but in truth, the scoreline didn’t reflect how dominant we were throughout the game.
We started the game with a lot of possession and made plenty of chances but the opening goal didn’t materialise.
Finally, the opening goal came 5 minutes from half time from a free kick by Poppy Lynch from the back. Some lovely link up put Alex Carroll through on goal. She finished her chance superbly into the bottom right hand corner.
If it wasn’t for the opposing goalkeeper making an incredible amount of saves, the game would have ended with a lot more goals scored for our girls.
We continue to sustain pressure in the second half and our second goal game from a fantastic corner delivery from Rose Davis which was headed into the net excellently by Holly O’ Hagan.
We conceded a goal in the dying moments of the game but we still came out with the deserved win.
