It was an early start this morning as 24 of our 6th Year History and Geography students along with Ms Noble and Ms Barry set off at 7am, fuelled by plenty of snacks and good spirits!
Our first stop brought us to the world-famous Giant’s Causeway, arriving just after 2pm. This UNESCO World Heritage Site never fails to impress — with its striking 40,000 interlocking basalt columns formed by volcanic activity around 60 million years ago. Students had the chance to walk across the dramatic stones, take in the spectacular coastal scenery, and connect their classroom learning with this natural wonder.
From here, we will continue on to Belfast, where we will check into our hotel before making a visit to Stormont Parliament Buildings. The grand avenue leading up to Stormont will give students a real sense of the importance of this site in Northern Ireland’s political history. Standing in front of the impressive building, they will be able to reflect on the role it plays in shaping governance and peace in the region.
After a busy first day, everyone will be glad to return to the hotel for dinner and some well-deserved rest. We are looking forward to another exciting day of activities tomorrow!
