The Junior Soccer team won the Cork Cup yesterday with an outstanding scoreline of 8-0. Our competitors were Boherbue Comprehensive School and to their credit, they battled until the final whistle. It was truly a memorable day for all players, supporters, staff, and family members who made the trip up to College Corinthians.
The team were led out strongly by their captain Holly O’ Hagan and they didn’t take long to open the scoring because within two minutes, Alex Carroll delivered a fantastic ball in from a corner which was superbly headed into the net by Mia Quille. It only took a couple more minutes for Faye Hanratty and Fiona O’ Connell to grab their first goals of the day and we really didn’t look back after that. It was 5-0 to Regina Mundi at half time which essentially put a stop to the contest. The girls continued to press and create chances in the second half until the game finally concluded at the 8-0 mark.
The goal scorers on the day were as follows:
Faye Hanratty (x3)
Fiona O’ Connell (x3)
Mia Quille (x1)
Alex Carroll (x1)
Every member of the team played their part in this fantastic win for the school, and it made for an extremely entertaining watch for our 4th year supporters who cheered us on for the entire game.
This is our second trophy that we’ve won in Soccer this year and it is an incredible achievement for the girls and a brilliant moment for the school.
