History trip to Cork Public Museum and Ogham Stones in UCC

April 14, 2026

Our First Year students recently enjoyed a trip to Cork Public Museum and the Ogham Stones in UCC accompanied by Mr Farrell, Ms Usher and Ms Barry. The visit gave students a valuable opportunity to see history beyond the classroom and helped bring many of the topics they have been studying to life.

In Cork Public Museum guided by Educational Officer Ms Jessica Cull, students explored a range of artefacts and exhibitions connected to local and national history e.g. the Vikings, models of Cork City in the past, the Irish Civil War, War of Independence, Terence Mc Swiney and Michael Collins to name a few. Students also got to see exhibitions of old signed jerseys of Roy Keane and Sonia O Sullivan, as well an impressive display honouring musician Rory Gallagher. They also visited the Ogham Stones in UCC, where they learned more about early Irish history, language and inscriptions.

A huge well done to our First Year students in Pi and Theta, who were excellent ambassadors for the school throughout the visit. Their behaviour, attitude and engagement were outstanding, and they represented the school with great maturity and respect. Our first year Lambda and Zeta students are now eagerly awaiting their visit on Thursday with Ms Garvey, Ms Nolan and Ms Rochford.
