Today our first-years in 1Pi became archaeologists, putting their learning into practice! Using toothpicks as “trowels” and cookies as excavation sites, students mapped their “dig” on a grid, marked visible “artefacts” (chocolate chips), recorded precise grid references, and then carefully excavated their finds, proving that patience and good note-taking are as important as sharp eyes. Using our Cookie Excavations worksheet, they also learned key terms like archaeology, excavation, site, and artefact before getting hands-on.
Huge well done to 1Pi for their care and teamwork, and for resisting the temptation to eat the evidence before the dig was done! 👏
