Celebrating European Day of Languages – Languages Unite!
We had a wonderful assembly this morning to mark European Day of Languages on Saturday 26th September. This year’s theme is Languages Unite! and so at assembly, we celebrated the power of languages to bring people together.
Staff spoke about the importance of learning languages and how languages can open doors to new cultures, friendships and experiences. We also introduced some of the exciting activities taking place in school this week, including the international school community online survey, quizzes, competitions and other language-themed challenges.
A special thank you to the students who kindly shared words and phrases from the languages spoken in our school community. We heard Gaeilge, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Albanian and Turkish — a fantastic reflection of the rich linguistic diversity here in Regina Mundi College!
One student shared her experience of the French language exchange last year, highlighting the opportunities to practise languages, meet new people and experience different cultures. Another student spoke about what she is looking forward to on the upcoming German exchange.
