Our TY students had a 6 am start on Tuesday, embarking on a trip to the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co. Offaly. After getting through all the traffic, students had four action-packed hours to explore everything the Ploughing had to offer!
There was no shortage of things to see and do! Students tried welly throwing, browsed the many GAA jerseys and hurleys, took selfies with the animals, watched some ploughing, enjoyed the amusements and even joined in some dancing. There was also plenty of celebrity spotting, along with visits to the National Brown Bread Baking Competition and live cooking demonstrations
Of course, no trip to the Ploughing would be complete without the challenge of filling as many bags as possible with freebies!
Thankfully, the weather was good to us, making for a brilliant day out. We departed Screggan at 2 p.m. after a very enjoyable and memorable day.
