SciFest@MTU

May 6, 2026

On Friday, TY student Ruth Kingston represented Regina Mundi College at SciFest@College in MTU. This national STEM programme takes place across 16 regional venues, with MTU hosting the Cork regional fair in the Nexus Hall Student Centre.

Ruth presented her project “Sustainable Food Tracker Website” to a panel of judges from SciFest, MTU, and leading organisations including Boston Scientific, EirGrid, Sisk, Regeneron, Motorola Solutions, Thermo Fisher Scientific, CUH and Tyndall National Institute, giving her valuable experience engaging with both industry and academic experts.

Students also had the opportunity to attend an insightful talk, “From Hacker to Defender: A Career in Cybersecurity”, delivered by Dr. George O’Manny and Hazel Murray, while the judges deliberated.

It was a fantastic day of learning, innovation and inspiration, and we are very proud of Ruth for representing our school so well.
