The First Year Soccer team were knocked out of the Cork Cup yesterday against Ashton. The final result on the day was 1-0 to Ashton.
Despite the unfavourable result, it was an amazing achievement to reach this late stage and in truth, the game was truly played on a knife’s edge. Regina Mundi created some fantastic opportunities throughout the game but we couldn’t secure a goal which would have been well-deserved. We conceded a goal from a lucky break for the opposition and we came agonisingly close to scoring an equaliser for unfortunately, it didn’t come.
However, overall it was an impressive team performance which featured some promising individual performances throughout the group. It is clear that this is a talented group of soccer players and we look forward to their contributions over the next few years.
