Regina Mundi College continues to build strong links with China. Our Transition Year students are currently studying Chinese culture and Mandarin language in conjunction with the Confucius Institute, University College Cork. Last week Deputy Principal Ms Flynn visited our twin school Xingye Middle School in Shanghai, China and met with the Principal, Deputy Principal, English teacher and a representative of the student body. Ms Flynn also visited an English lesson where the students were learning about Ireland and, in particular, Shanghai’s twin city Cork. The students were very inquisitive about Ireland and their questions dealt with Irish food, weather, school routines, Irish sport and even Irish coffee!
To develop a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and Mandarin language our TY students of Chinese will exchange emails with their counterparts in Xingye Middle School and three of our students will attend an Easter Camp in Shanghai University next April. The students will also visit Xingye Middle School while in China. We would like to thank the Confucius Institute, UCC for their continuing support of our Chinese culture and Mandarin language programme.
